Dhankar Lake

Dhankar Lake

Dhankar Lake, Spiti, District Lahaul &Spiti, H.P. May, 2000 Once a large block of stagnant ice trapped in rocky glacial debris, the Dhankar Lake and its purlieus provide succour to the people of Dhankar and Sijiling villages for grazing their Yaks. It also serves as a government sponsored experimental breeding pond for fish.
Korzok

Korzok

Korzok, District Ladakh, J & K, July, 2000. 15000 Ft. Clouds of Tso Moriri lead the sun in for a moment. To let it play with the shadows …linger for a while around its shore. In a moment, time will take wind’s hand and change forever.

Tso Moriri

Tso Moriri, 149000 Ft. District Ladakh, J &K July, 2000 Working as if on a gameplan, the sun and the clouds over Tso Moriri orchestrate a parody of nature’s delightful whims. A patchwork of light and shadow is simply a moment’s play.
Umnag, Pare-Chu Valley

Umnag, Pare-Chu Valley

Umnag, Pare-Chu Valley, Spiti, District Lahaul &Spiti, H.P. July, 2000 The Spiti asses are dwarfs. Yet their capability to carry loads at altitudes of 18,000 Ft. and above is phenomenal. Being the chief cargo vehicle in such inhospitable terrain, they are indispensable. One, having lugged our load all day, takes his meal next to a fresh water spring.
Korzok

Korzok

Korzok, District Ladakh, J &K July, 2000 Dwarfed by the intimidating spectacle of water and rocks, the human figure can do one of two things. Revere and respect the land or abuse it with mindlessness. For any farmer, to till land is to love it…and we as visitors must not, at any costs, flaw the vista with carelessness and refuse.
The confluence of Pin and Spiti Rivers

Pin and Spiti Rivers

The confluence of Pin and Spiti Rivers, Spiti, District Lahaul & Spiti, H.P. May, 2000. Born of related glaciers, the Pin and the Spiti Rivers braid themselves to marry at the feet of the Dhankar Gompa.
